Of Italian origine, (my great-grandfather came from Camburzano to La Tour-de-Peilz in 1878), I was born in 1939, just before World War II. I became a Swiss citizen when I was sixteen years old.
I graduated as a physicist at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (www.epfl.ch). From April 1971 to April 2001, I have been teaching at the School of Engineering Vaud (www.heig-vd.ch) the following branches: metrology and maths.
My mother tongue is French and I speak a few words of English and Italian.
Here are the activities I would like to present on this site, in order to share them with people having the same interests.
Till 1997, I was not at all interested in genealogy but, after having exchanged some electronic mail with Yves Piantino (email@example.com),unknown to me at that time, I decided to try to find people having the same surname as me. I first began to search in my family, then in my towns of origin and finally on the Web. And I was very surprised to find a lot of Piantinos in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, Great-Britain, Italy, Switzerland and the USA. Since then, I have been digging deeper into the past to find my ancestors...
